Steve Rathe is a proud Ithaca grad (TV-R/ Philosophy) who built a career in public broadcasting and created a production, marketing and distribution company to support it. From a radio station in his basement at the age of 13 to work for CBC (Canada), Pacifica, NPR and later a host of corporate clients (including Price Waterhouse and HBO)  his productions have featured innovative use of technology and creative use of the medium (from live, multi-venue satellite transmissions, to books on tape to podcasts). Those productions have brought him three Peabody Awards, The Prix Italia Rai Music Prize, three Grammy(r) nominations and a share in a National Medal of the Humanities (2000). Live music event production gave him the chance to manage stage productions for the Newport (NY) Jazz Festival, and New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and tours in Europe for artists including BB King, Fats Domino, and George Benson. In his spare time he enjoys travel, reading and playing 'old time' mountain music and blues.
