Samantha Brown, PT, DPT, GCS earned her bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Lowell in Massachusetts and doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from Arcadia University in Pennsylvania. She is a licensed Physical Therapist in both New York and Massachusetts. Her clinical work has been primarily in the field of geriatrics and she earned specialist certification in geriatrics (GCS) from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She is also LSVT BIG certified.
Dr. Brown began her clinical practice in acute care focusing on cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and geriatric orthopedics. She continued to pursue a love of working with geriatric patients in Skilled Nursing and Home Care settings as both a clinician and Director of Rehabilitation. She began teaching at Ithaca College in 2014 and maintains limited clinical practice in both home care and SNF settings when not teaching.
Current teaching responsibilities include the Center for Life Skills program, Cardiac and Pulmonary Testing and Management, and Mobility Training. Dr. Brown is also involved in clinical research with other IC faculty looking at LSVT BIG treatment for Parkinson Disease.
