Ithaca College's 'Rule Britannia!' Chamber Music Series Will Offer Two Performances in September
ITHACA, NY—The “Rule, Britannia!” series of free faculty chamber music at Ithaca College has changed from three Monday nights in September to two. Both concerts will begin at 7 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. The original Sept. 24 performance has been cancelled.
The “Rule Britannia!” performances are listed below.
Monday, Sept. 10
Soprano Linda Larson will present Britten’s “On this Island,” and violinist Susan Waterbury will perform both “Soiree d’amour” and the violin sonata by Edward Elgar. Pianist Charis Dimaras will collaborate throughout.
Monday, Sept. 17
Dimaras will be joined by sopranos Jennifer Kay and Deborah Lifton, baritone Brad Hougham and clarinetist Richard Faria. Britten’s “Charm of Lullabies,” Butterworth’s “A Shropshire Lad,” Walton’s “Three Early Songs,” and Ireland’s “Sonata-Fantasy” for clarinet and piano are on the program.
