My teaching and research interests involve environmental policy and governance, community-based natural resource governance, and common-pool resource governance through case study methods. I am particularly interested in when and how resource users work together to improve environmental and social outcomes in contexts of poverty, scientific uncertainty, and conflict. I am currently conducting research on fisheries governance in East Africa and community-based water governance in West Virginia, U.S. and Karnataka, India.

I teach the following courses:

ENVS 110: Environmental Crisis- Causes and Solutions

ENVS 213: Environment and Natural Resource Policy of the United States

ENVS 337: Communities and Sustainable Conservation

ENVS 338: Communities and Sustainable Conservation: Field Experience in West Virginia
