Dr. Costello is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of the Physical Therapy Department at Ithaca College.
Prior to joining the faculty at Ithaca College, he was the founding Director/Coordinator of the Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program and Spine Fellowship Program at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY, where he continues to mentor and teach courses related to clinical reasoning, management of spinal conditions, clinical application of pain sciences, and manual therapy.
As a member of the Performing Arts Wellness Initiative, he coordinates the Performing Arts Walk-in Clinic on campus and provides consultation and workshops on injury prevention and management for performing artists. In his independent clinical practice he works with individuals with persistent neuro-musculo-skeletal pain conditions, with a focus on performing artists. His scholarship explores the management of pain, performing arts rehabilitation, and Tai Chi.
He is active in the local music scene playing electric and upright bass, and occasionally guitar. He continues to practice Chinese Martial Arts. He enjoys time outside with family and friends.
