Lynne Hewitt, PhD, CCC-SLP is professor and chair of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. She joined IC in January of 2020, after serving as chair at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Her area of specialization is language development and disorders in children, with a particular emphasis on autism spectrum disorders (ASD), pragmatics of language, and social communication impairments. She is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist. She has published and presented widely on her work, with recent publications dealing with evidence-based practice in assessment for ASD and services for college students with ASD.  She has served as associate editor, editorial consultant, and reviewer for various scholarly journals, including the Journal of Speech-Language-Hearing Research, Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools, and the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, among many others. She currently serves as an editorial board member for the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology. She has served in a variety of volunteer and leadership roles for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), including accreditation site visitor, Topic Chair for Autism and for Language in School Age Populations for ASHA’s annual convention, Coordinator for ASHA’s Special Interest Group 1: Language Learning and Education, and Chair of the Academic Affairs Board. She was recognized by ASHA as a Fellow in 2014, the second highest honor awarded by the association.
