Dr. Lomond Headshot

Karen Lomond

Associate Professor and Associate Chair, Physical Therapy
School: School of Health Sciences and Human Performance
Specialty: Biomechanics, Motion Analysis, Posture, Balance

Biography

Dr. Lomond did her graduate work at McGill University in the Department of Physical Education and Kinesiology, focusing on repetitive reaching movements and muscle fatigue in person with chronic neck and shoulder pain. She went on to work as a post-doctoral associate at the University of Vermont, under Dr. Sharon Henry, investigating patient-matched and non-patient matched motor control-based physical therapy treatments for chronic low back pain. Dr. Lomond's efforts in this project focused on tracking changes in feedforward and feedbackward postural control as a result of these physical therapy interventions. Since then, Dr. Lomond's work has focused on understanding, qualifying  and tracking changes in postural adaptations in a variety of populations and performing motion analysis to better understand injury mechanisms and response to treatment.
