Jill Barbuti van Leuken graduated from the Ithaca College OT department in 2006 and immediately started her career in School-Based Occupational Therapy working first for OCM BOCES and currently for the Ithaca City School District. She began guest lecturing in 2012 then later joined the Ithaca College Occupational Therapy Department as an adjunct faculty member in 2013. She currently teaches the graduate elective, School-Based Occupational Therapy and acts as an instructor for the seminar sections of the Concepts in Pediatric OT
Jill's professional passions include working with students, teachers and families through both RtI and traditional IEP models to maximize student participation in the School-Based setting. Of particular interest to her are the implementation of OT services to address Mental Health in School-Based practice, the OT role in transition planning, and collaboration with teachers regarding principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Jill loves living in downtown Ithaca with her four young children and her amazing husband. Her large family keeps her busy with laundry, cooking, cleaning, bike rides, canoe trips, train rides, backyard baseball games, playmobile, legos, dress-up, and read alouds. In her free time, Jill enjoys teaching baby signs, reading, crocheting dolls for her children, dance and yoga.
