Elizabeth Shuhan is a lecturer in music education at Ithaca College where she supervises undergraduate junior teachers. Other duties at Ithaca College have included teaching woodwind methods, aural skills, coaching chamber music and applied flute instruction. Professor Shuhan is also a visiting lecturer of flute at Cornell University and Instructor of Flute at Opus Ithaca School of Music. She is principal flutist of the Fort Smith Symphony (AR) and performs regularly with Opera Ithaca, Ithaca New Music Collective, the Cornell Wind Quintet, Shuhan-Luk Trio and Ithaca Flute Duo. As a recording artist, she has recorded for Albany Records, Naxos and PBS.
Originally a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Professor Shuhan taught for six years in the public schools in Arkansas and worked as an adjudicator and guest clinician in Mississippi, Oklahoma, Missouri and Alabama. Prior to moving to New York, Professor Shuhan was the director and Suzuki flute specialist at the Suzuki Music School of Arkansas at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville.
