Since 2011, I have been teaching and conducting research in the Environmental Studies and Sciences Department at Ithaca College. My goal is to prepare my students for success in their chosen careers and to instill a sense of responsibility toward the earth and environment.

For motivated students, I provide opportunities for exciting and relevant research. Current projects include:
- An ongoing study of the hydrology and quality of roadside springs of central New York State.
- A long-term study of carbon sequestration in the trees and soils of the Ithaca College Natural Lands.
- A multidisciplinary study of the watershed of Six Mile Creek, the source of water for the City of Ithaca.
- A study the seamounts and drowned islands close to the Galapagos Islands in the eastern equatorial Pacific .
I maintain a lab in CNS 272 that contains an extensive rock and mineral collection, an Olympus polarizing microscope, a Dionex IC-900 ion chromatograph, and a muffle furnace. The lab is well equipped to analyze water for a variety of common inorganic species.
