Leaning against the "Center of the World"
While in Athens I traveled to Delphi and sat next to what, in ancient Greece, was considered the "Center of the World." Our guide called it the "bellybutton of the world."

This type of bank vault was were the ancient Greeks kept valued gifts to the gods. This vault is near the temple of Apollo.

These are the ruins of the Temple of Apollo.

This view below the Temple of Apollo is one of many breathtaking views in Greece.
Theatre of Apollo
Almost all of the ancient gods had a theatre dedicated to them and their adventures amongst the other gods and humans. This one is placed just above the Temple of Apollo.
The Oracle of Delphi
Cats that live around the ruins of Dephi are considered the Oracles of Delphi. I asked this one a question and he just stared at me. I think he's just a cat :-).

Temple of Dionysus
The Temple of Dionysus is still in use. While in Greece I had the opportunity to experience an opera there. It was an incredible experience to attend a performance in one of the oldest theatres in civilization.

This mask of Dionysus is located in a museum on the site were the ruins of the Temple of Dionysus and the Acropolis are.

"Politics and Theatre"
My presentation on this day dealt with how theatre plays into politics. I also discussed how theatre is often used to give voice to the disenfranchised in society. Later I screened my documentary "Road Trip: Demystifying HIV/AIDS.

We traveled as a group to Attica for the closing dinner of the conference.

The conference consisted of scholars from all over the world. This is our final dinner together before everyone traveled back to their respective country.
Sunset in Greece
This photo was taken on the last evening of the conference. As I noted in the Africa Photo Gallery, sunsets are beautiful anywhere in the world.
