Hi! Thanks so much for visiting my page.
As a Associate Professor of Communication Management and Design in the Department of Strategic Communication, teaching is my passion. I strive to inspire undergraduate and graduate students to become:
- better learners by starting with what they know and building their understanding through assignments
- more knowledgeable about a subject by providing current, up-to-date examples, theories, ideas
- active professionals via class projects, mentoring, and networking
In addition to teaching, I am curious about the following aspects of communication: crisis/risk, public relations, and social media/technology. I collaborate with colleagues and students to explore paths of inquiry associated with these areas, yielding various publications (trade and academic).
On a personal note, what I am most passionate about is food-- the cooking and eating of it! If I am not cooking, eating, or talking about food, I am watching all the shows on the Food Network: Restaurant Impossible, Chopped, Cupcake Wars, Cutthroat Kitchen, etc. Lastly, I have been approved to study culinary communications for my sabbatical project in Fall of 2015. I am so excited for this project!! I will start by reading From Scratch: The Uncensored History of the Food Network, available at Amazon.com.
