Xanthe Matychak is a designer and educator working at the intersection of design, sustainability, and technology. She created the Make Better Stuff Studio for ENVS and piloted it in the spring of 2016. In addition to this course, she teaches Operations Management in the MBA program in IC's School of Business and will be the Industrial Design instructor in this summer's Hardware Accelerator at REV. Xanthe is an active member of the Ithaca Generator makerspace and a designer and analyst at Wicked Device Electronics Co.
In the summer of 2015, Xanthe participated in two meetings at The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to explore the future of American manufacturing and was a resident designer in the Southern Tier Hardware Accelerator. She was recently awarded over $10k in funding for her hardware project. Xanthe has shared her work at TEDx, SxSW Interactive, and World Maker Faire. She holds a MFA in Industrial Design from RIT and taught Design Thinking in the RIT Innovation Center and b.school.
