Teresa Michel is a member of the Department of Education in the School of Humanities and Sciences, and has been a teacher educator at Ithaca College since August, 1989. Currently, she teaches Social and Cultural Foundations of Education and Early Field Experience: Theory and Practice. Both of these courses are required for teacher certification.

In addition to teaching, she has directed the Ithaca College Student Mentor Program, and has written and presented papers on mentoring and service learning at a variety of local, regional, state, and national education conferences through the years. More recently, her work with pre-service teachers involves introducing them to the action research process in their early public school field experiences. She also collaborates with her colleagues in the Department to introduce action research to students enrolled in the MAT and Childhood Education graduate programs, and to write and present about Ithaca College's approach to teacher preparation at local, state, and national conferences.
