Susan Weisend graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY Cortland and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse University. She received a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from Washington University in St. Louis in 1980 and began teaching at Ithaca College in 1987.

She has had over seventy-five solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States in the past twenty-five years and is represented in many public and private collections. The recipient of numerous grants and released time awards for research and creative projects from Ithaca College, Ms. Weisend has also received awards for her prints. Best of Show was awarded at the Arnot Art Museum Regional Exhibition in 1994, the Juror's Award for the Made in New York exhibition at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn in 1997, and the Second Prize Award at Works on Paper 2001 at San Jacinto College South in Houston, Texas. Institutions that have invited Associate Professor Weisend to present her art work, give workshops and lecture include: the American School in Paroika, Paros, Greece, the National Conference on Liberal Arts and the Education of Artists at the School of the Visual Arts in New York City and the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

During her tenure at Ithaca College, Ms. Weisend has expanded the book design, lithography, and silkscreen program in addition to teaching drawing and two-dimensional design. She has also served on numerous departmental, school, and college committees.
