Shauna Morgan Kirlew researches and teaches in the fields of African American and Postcolonial literature and theory and literature of the African diaspora from the Caribbean and West Africa. A doctoral candidate at both Georgia State University in Atlanta and Johannes Gutenberg Universität-Mainz in Germany, Shauna investigates literature of the twenty-first century and its engagement with neocolonialism, U.S. hegemony, globalization, and empire. More specifically, she explores African American and Postcolonial literature through the lens of, what she has called, Neo-Anticolonialism, a concept which ultimately argues for the bridging of insurgent activism and interdisciplinary scholarship.
