Hi and welcome to my faculty page. I'm happy to return to the Ithaca area after completing my graduate work in San Diego (where it is a "bit" sunnier). My research focuses on child language development and factors that can influence word learning. For example, the frequency of a word can influence how early it is acquired (along with a host of other variables such as how much it sounds like other words). While we know such variables can affect children with typical language development, I am interested in exploring the implications of such factors with clinical populations (e.g., children with language impairment).
I enjoy Thai food, playing the banjo, and rainy days. And sometimes all three at once.
My fun fact: I've toured as a singer-songwriter-pianist over the past 10 years and have five albums released. Curious? Visit my music website here: www.skottfreedman.com
