Robert Griffin-Nolan Wins Physiological Best Poster Award at the 2013 Botanical Society of America Meeting held in New Orleans, LO
Robert Griffin-Nolan (Biology '13) wins the Physiological Section "Best Poster Award" at the annual Botanical Society of America Meeting held in New Orleans, LO. His poster was about his research on how bryophytes (aka moss) use different wavelengths of light to photosynthesize. He found that they were quite good at using green light which was not expected since photosynthetic pigments do not absorb strongly in the green wavelengths of light. He conducted both field and greenhouse studies on three species of moss that he collected in the field from South Hill, a natural preserve on the Ithaca College campus.
