Public Invited to Math Learning Day at Ithaca College

ITHACA, NY—Math Learning Day—a presentation of puzzles, games and mathematics-related projects—will be held at Ithaca College on Saturday, March 24. Free and open to the public, the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the third floor of Williams Hall.

Offered in coordination with local teachers and educators, the event will offer elementary school students the chance to interact with Ithaca College students while participating in a variety of hands-on projects. The activities include making robots out of Lego parts and creating computer art using mathematical principles.

“We plan to have lots of exhibits as well as interactions with students and talks for parents,” said Dani Novak, associate professor of mathematics. “Our vision is to share the beauty of mathematics and the art of reasoning with children of all ages. We want to help young people discover that mathematics isn’t something scary or boring but as much a part of our human experience as music and art.”
