Head Start Programs

Graduate and undergraduate student clinicians at Ithaca College provide communication enhancement lessons for area preschoolers at Head Start programs. These programs are provided at a variety of locations off-campus.

The focus of the language enhancement model is to facilitate each child's ability to communicate effectively with others, to learn new concepts, and to develop beginning skills that are needed for reading and writing.

IC students engage the children in a variety of structured and unstructured activities that stimulate language. Activities include reading books for early literacy skills or play therapy to improve pragmatic and social interaction skills.
