Research and scholarly interests include contemplative education and mindfulness, the use of multi-sensory environments in the treatment of individual with disabilities, the study of curriculum development and the effective supervision of therapeutic recreation interns; interdisciplinary initiatives, especially determining cost effective means of providing coordinated client services with special focus on advocating for the role of Recreation Therapy as a viable treatment intervention and member of the interdisciplinary team; rural gerontology; play and its importance in the perpetuation and development of culture and as a means of promoting cultural awareness; and the role of leisure in society especially related to enhancing family cohesiveness.
