Merilee Nord graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with music education (B.M.E.) and performance (M.M.) degrees emphasizing organ, piano, and harpsichord study.  She has taught theory and sightsinging classes at Ithaca College since 1996, having previously served on the faculties of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Memorial University of Newfoundland.  In 2003, Professor Nord designed a theory/musicianship curriculum strand for musical theater majors and since 2004 has taught exclusively their three-semester required course sequence in music theory.

Ms. Nord is an active piano teacher in the community, as a member of Music Teachers National Association, New York State Music Teachers Association, the National Federation of Music Teachers, Tompkins County Music Teachers Associated, and the American College of Musicians.  She has earned state and national certification through M.T.N.A.
