Thesis Students

The thesis option is for students who seek to advance their knowledge in exercise physiology, sport psychology, or human performance and/or prepare for advanced study. I encourage both theoretical and applied research using both quantitative and mixed methods. Thesis topics are based on the student’s interest, but the work is guided, from selection of a topic through final revision, by a thesis committee. Thesis committees are usually made up of two faculty members of the students choice.

ESSG 61100 (Research Methods) serves to help students identify interesting topics and committee members, design methods and sampling procedures, and develop the framework for a thesis proposal. ESSG 61000 (Survey of Statistical Methods) provides students with the tools necessary to analyze and report their findings. Past students who have used these courses to develop and carry out thesis projects have completed their theses within 2-3 semesters. If you are interested in completing a thesis, I strongly encourage you to start thinking about topics right off the bat!
