Marc Gomes is an actor, writer, and teacher. In August 2018, he joined the Department of Theatre Arts at Ithaca College as Assistant Professor of Acting.

Marc's career as an actor began on stage in Canada in notable productions of As You Like ItA Slow Dance On the Killing Ground, Edmond, A Taste of Honey, The Gayden Chronicles, Sweet like Suga and the North American premiere of Ryszard Kapuscinski’s The Emperor.

He has starred in several television series including, The Crow: Stairway to Heaven created for television by Bryce Zabel for Polygram/ Universal; Sue Thomas: FBeye; ABC’s Commander in Chief; Lightning Force, produced by Bob Rheme and Mace Neufeld and Chasing Rainbows for the CBC. As Third Space Performance Lab with scholar/performer, Shanti Pillai, Marc looks forward the Oct '22 presentation of, To the Academy, a multi-media performance to be staged at The Clark Institute in Williamstown, MA. Third Space has performed at GATI Institute in Delhi, UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC's Roski Talks, Brown University and Cal State Long Beach. In 2016, Third Space were artists-in- residence at Brown University and RISD's, CoLab, a summer institute for collaborative performance. In 2016, Pillai and Gomes directed, Bird in the Hand by Jorge Ignatio Cortinãs.

In 2010, Marc and chef Joe DiMaggio Jr. wrote and created The Lost Chronicles of Food for broadcast TV. The show highlights the foodways and cooking methods that contributed to the development of early human societies and cultures. MaxMedia and Odyssey Entertainment developed the project for television.

In 2009 Marc received a UNIDO Cinematic & Entrepreneurial Motivation Award (CEMA) for his screenplay adaptation of the classic Caribbean novel, Corentyne Thunder by Edgar Mittelholzer. The CEMA was presented to film makers whose work was representative of emerging voices in Caribbean cinema. In 2002 Marc’s short film, Stir Crazy, played film festivals across North America.

Gomes has served as a Development Committee member, an original teaching-artist, and director with The Unusual Suspects Theater Company since 1996. The Unusual Suspects brings theater making skills to incarcerated and underserved young people in Los Angeles as a means to foster self-confidence, and cultural and racial tolerance.

Marc is a recipient of the Distinguished Guyanese-American Award, presented by Guyana’s Consul General to the United States.

He is an avid cyclist and bicycling advocate.
