I investigate different facets of risk and crisis and the interplay between them with technology. I explore how technology utilization and communication structures the interpretation of individuals on dynamic social topics related to a variety of risk and crisis scenarios. I am also interested in how social interactions and needs are serviced via computer-mediated communication. I utilize semantic network analysis, content analysis, and survey research most often to explore these phenomena. Most recently I have focused my interests on improving communication during school shooter scenarios by working to identify at-risk students, as well as developing methods to improve communication during crises.
Currently I am teaching research methods and government and media.
