CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Location: The CIDP is available to you at your desktop or laptop computer. All you need is internet access and audio reception. A user name and password will be provided upon registration.
Participants will receive instructions to access the program on line.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The program is designed for: clinical instructors [CIs] and center coordinators of clinical education [CCCEs] affiliated with the Ithaca College Physical Therapist education program.
The Clinical Instructor Development Program (CIDP) has been designed to enhance CI/CCCE effectiveness in clinical supervision and clinical instruction for our students.
OBJECTIVES:
· To enhance knowledge and skills in the provision of physical therapy clinical education including effectiveness in feedback and assessment
· To obtain current knowledge regarding IC curriculum, expectations and procedures related to clinical education
· To participate in a unique learning experience
PARTICIPANTS WHO COMPLETE Seven MODULES MAY BECOME AN IthacaCollege Voluntary CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR

Clinical Instructor Survey
Enhancing CI Assessment of IC Students
This module is designed to provide the CI current information regarding the tool used to assess student performance and to inform the CI of the expected level of performance for students at each level of clinical education coursework.
Providing Effective Feedback to Students
Learn what RIME is. How to use the One Minute Preceptor. How to design effective feedback strategies for the CI/Student team
Information Exchange during the Clinical Education Placement
Learn our schedule of planned contacts and how and when to initiate contact with the IC faculty. Learn to effectively collaborate with faculty to enhance student learning.
Challenging Exceptional Students
Learn how to challenge high level students. Learn how to guide learning experiences and write measurable objectives.
Fostering Clinical Competence
Learn to identify the marginal student’s needs and suggested learning activities to promote competence.
Evidence Based Practice
Learn the fundamentals of asking answerable questions and searching the literature for best available evidence.
Spasticity Management in Pediatrics (optional)
Karen Nolan, PT, MS, PCS details spasticity management interventions for pediatric clientele.
CIDP Participants must be employed at a facility that contracts with IthacaCollege as clinical education affiliates.
