Jane P. Kaplan is professor of French. She received her B.A. from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and her doctorate from Louisiana State University. A Fulbright grant initiated her to France, where she has spent many years and summers since. After teaching briefly at Yale, Southern Connecticut, Quinnipiac and Cornell, Professor Kaplan came to Ithaca and has been here over three decades. She has published on 18th century French literature, and is presently finishing the translation of a book of literature written 200 years ago for people who did not know how to read.
