I grew up in Vermont receiving my entry-level Physical Therapy degree from Ithaca College in 1972.  I practiced at the University of Vermont's Medical Center from 1972 until 1995.  During that time I had diverse clinical experiences with my most challenging work being during the 1980s while working on a Burn/Shock/Trauma Team.  In addition to having leadership responsibilities in the clinic, I was a faculty member in the Physical Therapy Department at the University of Vermont.  Concurrent with my clinical practice, I continued my academic education completing two graduate degrees.  I received my Doctor of Education (EdD) in 1991.

I joined the Ithaca College faculty in 1998.  I teach on the Rochester campus as part of the graduate faculty.  I teach in the Professional Development series, a Geriatrics course and the Medicine/Surgery sequence.  My primary focus is in Ethics.  My current scholarship is in compassion--- what do physical therapists and our patients mean by compassion and how might this information influence clinical practice.

I also serve as the Director of the Rochester campus and Chair of Graduate Studies.
