Alexandra Bates is the most recent in a series of student researchers to co-author a paper or publish an article with Professor Danette Johnson in the Department of Communication Studies (H&S). The paper, entitled, "Instructor Swearing and Student Perceptions of Instructor Competence and Trustworthiness: An Expectancy Violations Theory Analysis" was blind reviewed and accepted for presentation at the 2011 National Communication Association convention in New Orleans (November).

IC Alumna Kate Fields ('10) and Professor Danette Johnson co-authored a scholarly research article that will appear in an upcoming issue of Communication Quarterly.

Danette Johnson, Professor of Communication Studies (formerly Speech Communication) was recently elected president of one of the nation's largest professional organizations in the field - - the Eastern Communication Association. Dr. Johnson will plan the 2012 convention in Pittsburgh, PA, then move into the presidency in April 2013.
Dr. Johnson previously served as the ECA Executive Director and has been program planner for four interest groups: nonverbal, interpersonal, instructional, and organizational. She is the second Ithaca College faculty member to ascend to the presidency; recent retiree Dr. Sandra Herndon was the first.

Dr. Danette Johnson, Professor of Speech Communication, will publish research in Communication Reports, as co-author with an IC alum, Nicole Lewis ’09. Communication Reports is a blind reviewed journal published by the Western Communication Association.

Senior speech communication major Kaleigh Mrowka and Professor Danette Johnson are co-authors of “Generative learning, quizzing, and cognitive learning: An experiment in the communication classroom.” Their article will appear in a forthcoming issue of Communication Education, a publication of the National Communication Association.
