President of the Wilderness Education Association

The Wilderness Education Association helps people enjoy and protect our nation's most precious resource: our wilderness areas. The WEA has been training and certifying outdoor leaders around the world for nearly 25 years, teaching students to safely and effectively lead groups in the outdoors without harming the environment.

In addition, working with national conservation groups and government agencies, the WEA educates the general public in how to appreciate and conserve wild lands through special curricula and public service information campaigns.

The President of the Board is the chief elected officer and executive of the corporation and presiding officer of the international Association and Foundation, and has overall responsibility for the operation of the volunteer leadership and staff, operations, programs, and general associational well-being.

2008 - Present

Educational Review Committee Member for Leave No Trace the Center for Outdoor Ethics

The LNT Educational Review Committee (ERC) is a sub-committee of the Board of Directors of the Center for Outdoor Ethics and reviews new and existing Leave No Trace educational materials for accuracy and consistency. The committee also serves as a forum for discussing specific LNT techniques, skills and messaging. ERC review is designed to ensure programmatic consistency, nurture material development, and offer an experienced perspective.

Advisory Board Member for American Alpine Institute

Advises owner regarding any number of business issues, including marketing, sales, financing, expansion, etc.; advises the management of the corporation but does not have authority to vote on corporate matters.

2006-2007

Whitewater Rafting Curriculum Chair of the Safety Education & Instruction Council for the American Canoeing Association

Monitor and develop curriculum components of the whitewater rafting instruction program executed by the American Canoeing Association.

Affiliate Representative of the Wilderness Education Association

Represent the Affiliates of the organization during all board meetings and proceedings for a three year term. This is an elected position voted on by the affiliate membership.
