Wilderness First Responder

This certification includes standards for urban and extended medical care situations. Special topics include but are not limited to: wound management and infection, realigning fractures and dislocations, improvised splinting techniques, patient monitoring and long term management problems, up-to-date information on all environmental emergencies, plus advice on drug therapies. Emphasis is placed on prevention and decision-making. This certification is designed specifically to provide you with the tools to make critical medical and evacuation decisions in remote locations.

WEA Certifying Instructor

This certification allows an individual the ability to facilitate Wilderness Education Association National Standard Programs (NSP) for Outdoor Leadership Certification in an expedition-based format.

Graduates of NSP courses are able to:

  • Use and teach state-of-the-art minimum impact camping and travel techniques to move a group through the backcountry with minimal degradation to the environment;
  • Exercise good quality judgment and decision-making skills within a leadership position to help avoid potential accident and survival situations;
  • Recognize their own leadership abilities and limitations within the context of a group;
  • Demonstrate a basic standard of outdoor knowledge and experience based on the WEA 18-Point Curriculum; and
  • Efficiently travel in the wilderness utilizing a number of technical skills, such as canoeing, canyoneering, glacier travel, ice climbing, kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, and snow travel.

Leave No Trace Master Educator Instructor

This certification allows the individual to facilitate Leave No Trace Master Educator courses, through Leave No Trace the Center for Outdoor Ethics, emphasizing skills and techniques essential to Leave No Trace minimum impact outdoor ethics and education. Upon successful completion of a Leave No Trace Master course, each participant will become be able to teach Leave No Trace Trainer Courses.

Whitewater Rescue Technician Instructor

This certification allows an individual the ability to teach Whitewater Rescue Technician courses , through Rescue 3 International, which consist of intensive training using techniques and simple equipment to assess and perform river rescues. The emphasis of the class is on fast, low-tech and improvised whitewater rescue techniques.

ACA Whitewater Rafting Instructor Trainer

This certification allows an individual the ability to teach Whitewater Rafting courses as well as Whitewater Rafting Instructor courses, through the American Canoeing Association. These courses emphasize safety, enjoyment, and skill acquisitions for paddlers and instructors of paddlers of inflatable craft. The courses introduce and train paddlers in the basic elements of river reading, whitewater safety considerations, and paddling techniques. Instructors learn the fine art of running effective whitewater rafting courses.

ACA Intro to Kayak Instructor

This certification allows an individual the ability to teach Introduction to Kayaking courses through the American Canoeing Association. These courses emphasize safety, enjoyment, and skill acquisitions for paddlers of hard shell kayaks. The courses introduce and train paddlers in the basic elements of river reading, whitewater safety considerations, and paddling techniques.

Washington Whitewater River Master

This license is attained after completion of 1500 documented river miles in a professional guiding position. Once at the master level the holder can train other river guides for the state of Washington.

Ropes Course Facilitator

This is a competency-based certification of an individual practitioner's technical skill set. The assessment is comprehensive, covering all challenge course operating systems. This person once certified could reasonably be expected to operate elements and courses at sites other than the one he or she is currently working on.

Search & Rescue Incident Response Crew Leader

This certification is for persons who function on SAR missions as field searchers and who may function as Crew Leader.  Persons who obtain this certification are to function within the limits of the certification.
