Dominican Republic Program: Culture and Society: An International Field Experience
I am delighted to teach a very special class that travels to the Dominican Republic. Professor Hector Velez founded this class and I am very happy to continue the program now that he has retired.
In the Dominican Republic, we work with two grassroots organizations, Justicia Global and One Respe.
If you're interested in taking part in this class, please contact me. We begin accepting applications in October for the Spring class, and the trip takes place during three weeks in June.
Appalachia Poverty Immersion Program
I took part in a program led by the Poverty Initiative in January 2008 along with a IC student,
Dan Carrion, and an IC graduate, Steph Edley. You can read our blog here:

Organizing School
I work with the Tompkins County Workers' Center on the Service Learning for Social Justice Organizing School. We meet on Saturdays a couple of times a month to build relationships among community members and students, learn from each other, and strengthen and educate ourselves as leaders. This semester, several IC students and one IC graduate are working with members of the Workers' Center to plan and facilitate Organizing School.
