Andrea Merrill, a native of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, began studying the piano at age four. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from Ithaca College, and her Master of Music degree in piano accompanying from Arizona State University. Andrea also studied piano at the Mozarteum Sommerakademie in Salzburg, Austria. In 2005, Andrea completed her Doctoral degree in piano accompanying and chamber music at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. There she studied under Dr. Jean Barr, held two graduate assistantships, and was the recipient of the Drukker Award in Accompanying in 2003. Currently, Andrea teaches private piano and keyboard musicianship classes at Ithaca College, and maintains a private piano studio of her own. She also holds the assistant organist position at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ithaca.
Dr. Merrill has been on the faculties of Utica College of Syracuse University, St. Bartholomew School in Yonkers, NY, as well as the Community School of Music and Arts in Ithaca, NY. She is an active performer, both as a collaborator and as a soloist.
